Rescue Your New Best Friend

Millions of dogs and cats are euthanized each year simply because the number of people giving up pets is far outnumbered by people adopting them from shelters. With very little space at shelters, sadly many animals who aren’t adopted are euthanized. If more people adopted pets instead of buying them, however, the number of animals being put to sleep could be dramatically reduced.

Let's Help Together

Thinking about adding a dog or cat to your family? Why not consider adoption? You'll find an amazing pet and will be providing much needed support to your local rescue organization! For our part, UKUSCAdoggie is helping by promoting the work of rescue organizations around the world, publicizing events, and making regular donations. If you know of an organization that could benefit from our help, we'd love to hear about the work they are doing.

Adopt Don't Shop!

There are so many reasons why you should adopt your new furry friend!  Firstly, you will be saving not just one animal’s life, but two – the pet you adopt and the one who will then be able to take his place. Shelters are full of happy, healthy, well-socialized animals. In most cases they have been spayed or neutered, micro chipped, and vaccinated. Shelters do a great job of making you aware of any behavioral issues so that you can be sure your new pet will be a good fit for your family.

Be assured that most dogs and cats end up in shelters, not because they were bad, but rather because their owners’ circumstances changed. Animals from shelters tend to bond very well with their new parents and in a new loving home, will try their best to please.

Adopting a pet is far less expensive than buying one and with all the medical care thrown in, even after paying the adoption fee, chances are you’ve saved money. Above all, by adopting instead of buying a pet, you can be happy knowing that you are not supporting cruel puppy mills, which until people stop buying dogs, will continue to operate.

Above all, pets make us smile – they love unconditionally and having them around benefits us psychologically, emotionally and physically. The health benefits attributed to dog-care activities are well-documented.  Having them around provides us with a sense of purpose and reduces feelings of loneliness and isolation, no matter our age. Yes, pets are not just good friends, they’re good medicine!

We're Helping to Support Rescue Organizations!

There are so many great animal rescue organizations out there! We try our best to offer our support by making donations, publicizing upcoming events and sharing information.

Rescued Hearts Northwest

Based in Ferndale, Rescued Hearts Northwest (RHN) is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, founded and operated by dedicated volunteers. The organization rescues animals in need, bringing them into a foster home program for care and rehabilitation. Through a thorough screening process, they are then placed in permanent, loving homes.

RHN is committed to saving and improving the lives of animals in need. A primary focus is on educating communities on the importance of spaying and neutering pets and stressing the many benefits of adoption. The organization strives to build and nurture positive, respectful relationships between pets and people, and they advocate for all animals, particularly those in need.

The Alternative Humane Society of Whatcom County

An all-volunteer, nonprofit animal welfare organization, the Alternative Humane Society (AHS) has been serving Whatcom County, Washington State since 1977. The organization is dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and cats, helping to find them permanent loving homes. The goal is to make their local community one in which no healthy animals are euthanized, to offer spay and neuter assistance, to cultivate a culture of respect for animals through education, and to act as an advocate for the humane treatment of animals.

AHS is run entirely by volunteers, with no shelter or office. Their programs include Canine Foster & Adoption and Spay & Neuter Assistance.
